Nepal's woes

The current veering of Nepal to far left is dangerous development. The Maoist majority in constituent assembly is unfortunate. The aim of the Maoist armed group is to set up a communist republic. This goal will essentiailly destroy Nepal's identity. The ouster of Hindu king is another example of movement toward secularism. Secularism does not guarantee freedom or equality for the minority faiths. It might end up with more competition and subsequent disharmony among various faiths. Sectarian riots like of India can be common now. Separatism and irredentism is on the rise. These negative anti-national activities could ultimately lead to complete breakdown of central authority.

Maoist leaders like Prachanda, Baburam and Badal must be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity. They began the brutal war against the Nepali people. Justice must be served to the victims of Maoists.
