Commission for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights

July 12, 2008
IPR is an issue of concern to everyone. In the modern world, piracy and intellectual property rights dispute is common. Nepal can be the right place to start the anti-piracy effort in the whole of Asia. Piracy affects artistes, writers, singer songwriters across the world. In order to resolve IPR disputes and claim proper compensation the Royal Nepali government should take immediate steps to establish a powerful commission for the protection of intellectual property rights. From its unique location in Nepal, the commission can direct prosecutors to even our neighboring countries India and China, where piracy is rife. If Nepalis learn to uphold IPR laws and international understanding, all the artistes and writers can benefit in terms of both recognition of their work and proper monetary compensation.
